Impact
Together with our partners, we are changing Canada’s cancer landscape to improve how people in Canada experience cancer.
The Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control (the Strategy) unites the many organizations involved in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care across Canada under a shared vision: a future where fewer people in this country develop cancer, more survive it, those living with the disease have a better quality of life, and everyone has equitable access to high-quality cancer care.
As steward of the Strategy, the Partnership has accelerated efforts across the cancer system to help make that vision real. Significant progress has been made, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Canada’s health and cancer community.
Following is only a sample of our collective impact. In collaboration with partners from 2017 to 2022, the Partnership advanced work that will help:
- Priority 1: Decrease the risk of people getting cancer
- Priority 2: Diagnose cancer faster, accurately and at an earlier stage
- Priority 3: Deliver high-quality care in a sustainable, world-class system
- Priority 4: Eliminate barriers to people getting the care they need
- Priority 5: Deliver information and supports for people living with cancer, families and caregivers
- Priority 6: Culturally appropriate care closer to home
- Priority 7: Peoples-specific, self-determined care
- Priority 8: First Nations-, Inuit- and Métis-governed research and data systems
