Canada’s cancer research community to convene in November 2013
Registration now open for conference event that will showcase recent innovations in cancer research
August 21, 2013
This fall, Canada’s cancer research community will come together in Toronto to showcase recent innovations in cancer research and share ideas that will help shape the future of cancer discovery and care.
The 2013 Canadian Cancer Research Conference, to be held November 3-6 and hosted by the Canadian Cancer Research Alliance, is Canada’s only conference devoted to the continuum of cancer research from discovery to palliation. It is targeted to professionals who work in cancer research, whether in the lab, the clinic or in policy. This year, special sessions will be held for trainees and new principal investigators. As well, a community forum for the general public will take place on Sunday, November 3.
The Canadian Cancer Research Conference will:
- showcase the breadth and excellence of Canadian cancer research to both the research community and the public
- provide a single venue for researchers from across the cancer research spectrum and cancer sites
- expose researchers to new areas of cancer research, new techniques and infrastructures, and facilities to support research
- allow for cross-fertilization between research disciplines
- provide networking opportunities for researchers at all levels of their careers
“Canada has an active and high-quality cancer research community that has already made significant contributions to what is known about cancer, from genetics to treatment,” said Dr. Mario Chevrette, chair of the conference’s executive planning committee. “By creating new interactions and exchanges that might not have otherwise happened and providing a forum for knowledge to be shared, the conference is helping to further maximize the impact of cancer research dollars.”
This is the second Canadian Cancer Research Conference – the first was held in 2011 as the result of an action item in the 2010 pan-Canadian research strategy. This year’s platinum supporters are the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research.
Registration for the 2013 Canadian Research Conference in Toronto is open until October 14, 2013. To register, or for more information about the conference, visit http://conference.ccra-acrc.ca/.
