Cancer stage in performance measurement: A system performance report
February 1, 2015
Read about the first ever look at pan-Canadian data on cancer stage, which can help us better understand cancer control initiatives and patterns of care
This report on Cancer Stage in Performance Measurement is the first pan-Canadian report of its kind presenting provincial population-level data on cancer staging. Stage data allows us to evaluate cancer control initiatives like screening and early detection, as well as patterns of care including diagnosis and treatment. Indicators presented include incidence rates by stage for the four most common cancers, and prevalence rates for three key prognostic factors: incidence of breast cancer cases that are triple-negative, a breakdown of prostate cancer cases by risk category, and the percentage of rectal cancer cases with a positive circumferential resection margin.
