This infographic shows how far from home many Inuit need to travel for cancer care because it isn’t available in their community.
Inuit believe strongly in the benefits of community yet they often must travel for days across the country to receive cancer care. That raises the question: how can we provide better cancer care to those living in rural and remote areas?
In the North, there are great distances to fly for treatment and weather is a big factor in flight delays or missed connections, but the biggest impacts are anxiety and physical tiredness travelling long distances.
