Métis are one of three constitutionally recognized Indigenous populations in Canada. The Métis emerged as a distinct Indigenous people and Nation in the historic Northwest during the late 18th century. The historic Métis Nation Homeland encompasses Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta and extends into contiguous parts of Ontario, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and the northern United States.
This report looks at the burden of cancer among Métis and shares examples of promising practices to improve Métis patient experiences across the cancer continuum.
